No News is Good News
No German news, only good American news, that is. This will largely be a post about your comments and also some other things that concern me personally, so if you're not actually that interested in stuff that's not German, feel free to breeze right over this part.

AP Grades
My mother made me guess over MSN, and I got two grades wrong, so I guess I owe her two Rittersport chocolate bars when she comes over here. On four of the tests, I guessed "5" and was correct:
Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, American Government, and Calculus.
Considering my very poor second essay on Psychology, I guessed a 4, but was pleasantly surprised to receive a 5.
I once watched a show which interviewed Stephen Hawking on his research on black holes. He commented that he'd made a bet with another scientist, but for some reason had bet against the theories he had developed. He explained it thus: "If I were proved right, the joy would exceed the small loss of this bet. If my life's work were proven wrong, however, I would still have the small consolation of winning the wager." I knew that I passed the AP Literature and Composition test, but I needed a 4 to be named National AP Scholar as a Junior. Therefore, I guessed a 3, and will gladly buy my mother her second candy bar.
If you're confused:
Microeconomics: 5
Macroeconomics: 5
American Government: 5
Calculus: 5
Psychology: 5
Lit & Comp: 4
With 8 APs recieveing grades of 4 or 5 and a total average above 4 (Statistics 5 and American History 4 were my other two), I will be awarded the title of National AP Scholar after my junior year, a feat accomplished only by Parker Kienholz and (potentially) Taylor Stevenson.
I was also "tagged," so I shall fill this out and post it here.
1) Total Number of Books I own: 2 over here... probably around 40 or so back home too.
2) Last Book I Bought: "Deutsche Geschichte von den Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart; Eine marxistische Einführung," and "Herz, mein Herz, was soll das geben? Goethes schönste Gedichte." (German history from the beginning to th present; a Marxistic introduction and Goethe's most beautiful poems")
3) Last Book I Read: Working on "Der kleine Hobbit" right now... last book I read fully though would be "Mourning Become Electra," if that counts as a book...
4) Books That Mean A Lot to me: Stranger in a Strange Land, one of the first "classic" books I've picked up and read on my own. The Great Gatsby, an excellent book overall. Also, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, not because it's that good, but because I had to have saved myself with that on that AP Lit test ;)
5) "TAG" 5 ppl. who basically MUST post this on their blog: Josh Mattson, Derby, Jen Dens, Tara, Josiah
Thanks for the references, I took a few pics from Holbrook and Derby. I also plan on scrounging through Mitch's here; speaking of which, I'm linking his blog onto here. Don't know why that slipped my mind before...
Pressing Matters:
Anonymous. I know you're not who I think, because I don't think you're anyone. Argh! But do answer me, have I said your name already when I was just listing them off? I need to know if those people are still fair game...
Hey Morgan! Liz already commented here too... If you do want to send me a pic, I'll post it up in my gallery, sure. Sorry I didn't mention you guys by name... Things are going great, keep checking in for more updates!
Yes, Josh, you're right. In fact, I probably should've taken Geli out with my friends a whole lot more when I was over there, which is something I sort of regret at this point... she always had her own group though, and our group didn't even do too much, sadly.
We'll be in Munich (München as it's called in German, though even I have difficulties pronouncing that one) over the summer vacation for a short period, staying in a youth hostel. Also, I don't need a haircut; I'll be just fine.
I'm still editing and cutting for my project, but I'll let everyone know which pictuers I take from which Flickrs, just so that you all know.
SCHOOL'S ALMOST OUT: 4 days of instruction, Mon - Thurs, then Friday we begin working on projects. I'm in a group learning Chinese from the Chemistry teacher. This goes on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. Wednesday is the last day of school, a half day consisting basically of sitting and doing not much. Then, finally, freedom.
When you say you're going to "pay for that," Dad, do you mean get guff from me for sending mother over here? Or suffer without her for two weeks over there (again)? Or are you just talking about the cost of the plane tickets? ;)
Since this wasn't a real post, it warrants no Twain quote or German portion.

Jason, I will attempt to Email you two jpg files from work. One will be an aerial photo of Forestview. The other is a shot taken from behind the baseball field looking towards the football (yes, American Football, not soccer, which the rest of the world calls football) field with the hill and High School off in the upper left of the photo.
I am typing this at Habitat - WSN blocks blogs between 8 am and 5 pm.
If you need a different format for the photos, just Email me back at work.
And yes, you should have taken Geli out with your friends and introduced her around more. You should fess up and let her know your error.
Love,
Dad
4 days of school... impressive. We have only been out for 50 days now.
Solid Jason. Solid.
5/4/5/5/5/5/5/4
Hmmmm well if the exact order doesn't look familiar post jr. year the eight numbers themselves sure do.
Door's open though. I left you a present in the form of my spanish 3...so you only need to keep your 5s and 4s to beat me :-)
Take AP Chem btw. Seems like ppl are doing fairly well on the test. Something went right.
To add on sr. year...
something better than
555543
:-P Maybe not that easy Jason.
1st of all, John, why on earth are you counting the days we've been out of school. Do you want to hurry and go back to school or what?
All I'm going to say is that you might have guessed my name. That's it. Nothing else.
Clues:
1) You listen to strange music for your age. But I guess that's pretty cool.(the clue is, I know what kind of music you listen to).
2) I don't get sick that often.
Ok, I think that the mystery person is Mike Ramsdell.
New answer: Mini Murr.
Oh man "I don't get sick that often."
That does fit Mehr to a T.
Natl. AP Scholars for class of 2005
Parker
Andrew
Folky
Mitch
Natasha
Claire (a pretty safe assumption)
probable: Carmen
Missed it either by one test of 4+ or 0.06 on the average criteria...
Kellen (average)
Jake Schill (one test)
Brian Agre (one test)
Mom says what?????
I am going to get the digi from work and take the photos you want. Should email them to you Monday. If there is a way to post them to someplace let me know how.
Just got the book, saw p"n"k, but I'm sure you've been reading it for a few hours. Let us know how the party was. I was going to call - after all it is 8am your time now, but need to sleep...
Ask Marina about the train please.
Have you been in contact with Matt Anderson?
Forgot. I talked to Chet. Taylor has been at a Leadership conference and gets home today, but unlike some parents, Chet wasn't allowed to open the mail so he doesn't know what the scores were. Not that he didn't try reading it thru the envelope.
Do you have the new HP over in Germany?
Jason, you know how I said that I just heard Come Go With Me? Well I memorized it in one day. It's pretty cool! Now I'm listening to Good Vibrations. These next two weeks softball games will be playoff games. This weekend all of us, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Grandma and Grandpa will be going to the cities for my softball tournament. I also have a tennis tournament in two weeks. Last, this morning, Mom and I got Harry Potter. We were wondering if you got it in German, just for fun.
Love,
Zoe
Where are my AP scores?
Hey: I haven't posted in forever....I haven't been on in forever... holy crap. it took me two hours to get caught up with your prolific blog. i haven't been on it since the middle of June... lol. (i was doing other stuff too)
You have been keeping pretty busy i see.. as have i, and i was at the same leadership came thing Tay attended ... o boy, i have blackmail pictures if anybody wants them.... Think Chippendales, and Chris Farley.... then think Tay....
The camp was called RYLA, acronym for Rotary Youth Leadership Award, so we learned about effective leadership qualities, and had a lot of fun. There was a dance at the end of the week...and the ratio at the camp was 90 ladies to 30 guys...I saw Tay busting his moves, but i think it was only because the ladies were desperate. lol.
Oh, did i mention 90 ladies and 30 guys? the only downside was that we were away from the Brainerd LAKES area for the hottest days thus far in the summer.
AS for AP Scores... i can tell you are a little disappointed with that lit score... but find solace, i too, got a four on that one... but that was the only four for me, of a whomping 3 tests.
And just so somebody knows...my parents weren't allowed to open my scores while i was gone either.
And i don't think Andrew Mehr could be the anynomous person because he is in colorado, doing a lot of hiking, and probably away from a computer, or he was the last time i checked... he might be back now.
But anyway.... come what may.
I can't believe summer is already half gone... it is amazing.
Tim
Hi
Jen doesn't find out about China until Friday. We had a lot of fun the water was warm. Zoe tried skiing - good for her, Matt is a pro from hanging around the Woodards and even your dad got up on the third try.
Saw Jen's NYC photos. You looked very dapper in the suit. I at least feel better; remember me telling the story of when I was showing my photos from Rome there was one of me on the top of St Pete's and it has the city in the background? Anyway dad just looked at it and said, "That's my shirt". Not great pic or anything. Anyway, he identified with his sports coat and tie. lol
Holy cow. Are you still burping that sandwich up and have you had to eat anything in the last 2 months??? Amazing.
Mom
Hmmmmmm guess Tay didn't make it Jason.
Again, congratulations, and I'm proud to hover up there (wherever "there" is) with you next to me as the post Jr. year NAPS. (like my acronym? it's genius)
And I read the comment you posted on Tay's blog. Well yes by all means have fun! I had a lot of fun for the most part my sr. year...even though december was a crapper trying to close out first semester.
If you're still interested in gathering photos, I can post a gallery to Imageshack or something. I have some pictures of the Mississippi River in town and around Crow Wing State Park and also have some pictures of snow scenes and the fall colors from atop the firetower at Kathio State Park.
